The Martyrs, Archangels and Evangelists
The Martyrs, Archangels and Evangelists

As we enter the Church for the Divine Liturgy, where we are to "leave aside every earthly care" and "With fear of God and faith and love, draw near" to receive the Body and Blood of Christ, we are reminded by the great Archangels Michael and Gabriel of the awesome "work of the people," (liturgy or leitourgia) into which we are about to enter.

As we leave the Cloud of Witnesses Chapel to go into the world in our daily lives, we are emboldened by the Martyrs Sts. George and Demetrius who fought evil and triumphed in their martyrdom.

As we look up before going out, we are reminded by the Evangelists (Sts. Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) and the deacon/ transcriber St. Prochorus), that we are to put on the whole armor of God, including “the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” (Eph. 6:13-17)
