Camp Reunion Details

We are pleased to update you on the progress we've made preparing for the 60th Anniversary of Camp St Nicholas.  We have a great committee in place working diligently on all aspects of our campaign.  With the blessing of Metropolitan SABA, we are now ready to formally ask for your support and participation as we work to raise the funds needed to secure the next sixty years of successful camping programs for both our Diocese youth, and for our parishes local retreats and events in the beautiful Los Padres National Forest.

The Reunion Dinner

We are planning a fun filled and nostalgic 60th Anniversary and Reunion dinner on Saturday, June 8, 2024.  We will begin with Great Vespers at 5PM at St Nicholas Cathedral and then move to the Heritage Ballroom for the event.  This is not going be your typical "rubber chicken church hall dinner".  In the casual style of camp, there will be no assigned seating and we will be bringing in both the "Original Tommy's" food truck as well as the "Middle Feast" food truck.  There will be selections for all appetites and preferences.

The event will include a walk through our Camp Museum displays where artifacts, photographs and other memories of the last sixty years of Camp St Nicholas will be on display.  We will also have a Photo Booth set up to capture photographic memories of our time together with those we perhaps first met at Camp St Nicholas.

The highlight of the evening will be a multimedia presentation where we will recognize a few individuals who were instrumental in the establishment, maintenance, or operation of both our facility and our camping programs over the past sixty years.  This is an evening you won't want to miss, and registration is now open.

Work Weekend at Camp St Nicholas

Please join us on June 29-30 for an overnight at camp.  This will be a wonderful opportunity for those who haven't had a chance to be a "camper" since they were their children's age (or younger) to come up for an overnight.  On Saturday we will work to prepare the camp for the upcoming four weeks of Diocese Camp.  We will also have an evening program scheduled (which will include a campfire - weather permitting).  On Sunday morning, we'll get up and celebrate the Divine Liturgy (transfering the feast of St. Peter and Paul to Sunday) in the St. Paul Chapel.

Opportunities to Give

In addition to our wonderful dinner and our weekend at camp, this is indeed a fund raising effort.  It will take several hundred thousand dollars to ready the camp facility for the next sixty years.  Please come to our events ready to commit whatever you are able to this effort.  We have several opportunities to give, including naming rights to a cabin or building. We will also establish a permanently mounted "Donor Wall" at four funding levels where you can honor your family, friends, ancestors or parishes.

We hope to see you at the reunion, the work weekend at Camp, and regardless of your ability to attend these events, we hope you will consider supporting our fundraising efforts to establish a solid, year-round, camping facility for the use of the Diocese of Los Angeles and the West.  For more information or to make a donation in advance of the dinner, please contact St Nicholas Cathedral directly at (213) 382-6269.
